If someone asked us to generate the perfect image of the Costa Brava, it would probably look very similar to Cala Margarida.
The best time to visit is in the evening, when the light becomes softer and the setting sun reflects on the water.

As the sun rises, fishing boats leave the harbour and cross the bay. Later in the afternoon they return, often followed by flocks of seagulls hoping for an easy meal.

2. Cala dels Pots – The Cove Most Visitors Never Find

Located directly below Camping Palamós, between the campsite and Marina Port Palamós, many visitors walk past without ever realising it exists.

Kids can spend hours sitting in the water, playing with stones and pebbles while remaining safely close to shore.

3. Morro del Vedell – A Natural Aquarium
If you enjoy snorkelling, this is the place to go.
Morro del Vedell is one of our favourite underwater spots near Camping Palamós.
The shallow entrance makes access easy, while the rocky surroundings create excellent conditions for marine life.
Sea urchins, colourful fish, starfish and crabs are common sights.
Some lucky visitors even encounter octopuses hiding among the rocks.
The experience often surprises people because they expect to find the best snorkelling spots far from town.
Instead, one of the most rewarding underwater areas is located just a short walk from the campsite.
4. Cala S’Alguer – The Costa Brava Postcard
There is a reason why Cala S’Alguer appears in so many photographs.
The colourful fishermen’s houses create one of the most iconic landscapes on the Costa Brava.
Reaching it on foot from Camping Palamós is part of the experience.
The walk follows the famous Camí de Ronda coastal path, offering spectacular sea views along the way.
Interestingly, locals sometimes joke that Cala Margarida is just as beautiful but somehow receives less international fame.
Perhaps that’s not such a bad thing.
Either way, Cala S’Alguer deserves its reputation.
And once you arrive, you’ll quickly understand why.
5. Castell Beach – A Natural Treasure
Strictly speaking, Castell is not a hidden cove.
But leaving it out of this list would be impossible.
Reached on foot or by bicycle from Camping Palamós, Castell represents something increasingly rare on the Mediterranean coast.
Space.
Nature.
Freedom.
Many years ago, the people of Palamós chose to preserve this area, helping protect one of the last large undeveloped coastal landscapes on the Costa Brava.
Visitors often experience the same feeling when they arrive.

6. Cala Estreta – The Art of Doing Nothing

Around the rocks you’ll often find marine life including crabs, octopuses and starfish.
